Safe Computing
To assist you to protect the information on your personal or home computer we recommend that you put into practice the following tips.
- Keep your password confidential. Never under any circumstances tell anyone your password or write it down or store it on your computer. Memorise your password, use a number or word that you can easily remember but others would not easily guess.
- Under no circumstances leave you computer unattended while you are logged in to Netfa$t Internet Banking.
- End your internet session immediately by using the LOGOUT function, rather than just closing the application.
- Install and keep up to date with antivirus software and firewalls, especially when you are linked via broadband connections or cable modems. Regularly scan your PC with your anti-virus software.
- Always check your statements for any transactions that look suspicious.
- Delete junk or chain emails. Do not open email attachments from strangers.
- Never click onto a link or an attachment in an email, obtained from a source you don't know or trust.
- Do not go to the web site of any financial institution from a link contained within an e-mail.
- Disable or switch off the option on browsers for storing or retaining user names and passwords. Check your browser help for instructions.
- Close your internet browser after signing out at the end of each Internet Banking session.
- Try to avoid using shared computers (e.g. at an Internet Café) as you may be unable to check whether the latest anti-virus software has been installed.
